Hydroelectric Power
Hydroelectricity is essentially what it sounds like. It is electricity created through the generation of power through the harnessing of gravitational force of free-falling or flowing water. Interestingly, hydroelectricity produces about 20 to 30 percent of the world’s electricity. But when you consider that it is produced from a renewable energy source, one might think that this percentage would be higher. Therefore, we all need to band together to encourage wider spread use of this amazing power source.
Not only does it rely on renewable energy, hydroelectric power centers introduce no direct waste into the environment. Not only that, but since our industries seem to be at an all-time high of pollution outputs, it should soothe you some to learn that hydroelectric power creates a significantly lower production level CO2. We can make a significantly beneficial impact on our planet by cutting down on these greenhouse gases. This means that they are a much wiser choice for our environment than energy plants that rely on fossil fuels (a non renewable energy source).
